I was 7 or 8 years old as i saw this movie for the first time, and was suddenly addicted by the soundtrack. A recurent theme, between dark & light. It’s one of the movie i saw the most, just for the music, and the story of course…Legendary actors like Jean Gabin, Lino Ventura and Alain Delon are playing the main characters. Anyway, one of my favourit Morricone’s score. I was « hunting » this soundtrack LP for years before the CD reissue came out, and found the vinyl 10 years ago very cheap and in good condition. A title like « snack bar » is especially made for comfort and lounging activities, otherwise, « tema per Le Goff » more for a car chase ! Each tracks are quiet associated with the deep and nostalgic atmosphere of the movie. Much underrated, i think, and gloomy like i like it ! This is a french 1979 LP reissue of the 1969 movie. Enjoy the sicilians…

I love the film and the soundtrack is a Morricone classic - just wonderful. I have another release of this album but this one has a much nicer cover...

bon travaille, numero 6 !

Beautiful.....Thank you very much! If the film is half as good as the soundtrack, it should have won an Oscar! The metallic "boing!" sound is fantastic, I can't get enough of it!

There is a new website/blog for Ennio Morricone fans called - http://enniomorricone-ilmaestro.blogspot.com/
It's still under development and the guy is painstakingly listing the soundtracks alphabetically ! The site borrows a bit from the vaunted Morricone Lover on www.MyOpera.com among others and they gave him some unfair stick about upconverting 128's to 320's. I compared 10 and 7 were better on the new site by virtue of them being cleaned up (ie hiss removed and/or not in some obscure format which won't open or play on Windows Media Player. A good few are @1411 kbs and there's no passwords needed. Lossless formats are available on request apparently. It offers many better covers and a near up-to-date Ennio Morricone bio thrown in. It is also a little more user-friendly inasmuch that searches are brought up quickly whereas on the other site you get timed out a lot.
There's no room to thank the guy for all his efforts unless you donate a dollar. There's none of the usual "I worked hard to get this done for you all but I love you - do you love me?" martyrdom which plagues other sites. Well worth a look anyway.
