…Just following the previous steps, this is the original 12 inch that came out in 1983 but this time covered by Ivo’s project , This Mortal Coïl. In fact, a meeting between several artists on the 4AD label. If i’m right, it seems that only two tracks are avalaible again through cd reissues, and i think that « Sixteen (Reprise) » is just avalaible here, on that vinyl. Maybe i’m wrong, so comments are here … After two decades, anecdotik i think !

.

Here is a prefigure of the forthcomming 90’s. A clever combination between sounds & melody ( especially on ‘Gathering Dust’ title ). A kind of sound that became more popular troughout a lot of noisy & guitars band at the end of the 80’s. A little bit underrated at their time, hidden behind Bauhaus & consorts, Modern English was nevertheless a significant band by the growing new 4AD label. This is their second original 7 inch single that came out in 1980. The B-side " Tranquility Of A Summer Moment (Vice Versa) " is avalaible again troughout the CD reissue of the " Mesh & Lace " LP.
